When the National Weather Service forecasts any weather alert for the Borough of Nazareth, residents should prepare for the effects of a bad weather event.
If you reside in an area prone to high water be prepared to move. Storm drains have been cleared in advance however with the high volume of leaves still present they may become quickly clogged.
Borough of Nazareth residents should also be vigilant for the effects of high winds on trees. Small objects such as trash and recycle containers should be moved inside shelter. Given most of our trees still have their leaves makes them more vulnerable to breaking limbs and toppling with wet ground conditions. Should you reside in a place you are at risk for this eventuality, be prepared to seek alternate shelter.
If the power does go out, please DO NOT LEAVE ANY CANDLES LIT if you must leave your house.
All residents are urged to avoid unnecessary travel. Also maintain contact with neighbors who may be at greater risk of requiring emergency services, such as the elderly and those with health issues. Please do not call the Borough Office. If you have an emergency please call 911. The non-emergency phone # is 610-759-2200.
Please be aware that emergency vehicles may be traveling around and through the Borough. If an emergency is declared, we will man the firehouse to answer any questions you may have. Please use common sense and let the Public Works, Fire and Police departments do their jobs. Our goal is your safety, your goal should be to stay safe.
